Irish Famine Film
A short film produced by Pathe News around 1905 that brought attention to famine in Ireland in that year. The film has been altered and is used to draw similarities to the early famine of 1846-50. -
The Pogues - Thousands are Sailing
This is the fifth in a series of simple music videos that include the lyrics to some of the best Pogues songs. The Pogues play traditional Irish music with influences from punk rock. While the actual sound of this music is outstanding, the lyrics are normally incredible and the work of a genius, in this case founding member Philip Chevron (sung by Shane MacGowan). However many people, particularly those from outside of Ireland, sometimes struggle to make out these excellent lyrics. This series of videos aims to provide these lyrics and hopefully enhance everyones enjoyment of this superb music. -
