Modi
Modì is an upcoming biographical drama film based on the life of Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani. It is directed by Johnny Depp, from a screenplay by Jerzy and Mary Kromolowski, which is based on the play Modigliani by Dennis McIntyre.
“Embarking on this cinematic journey as the director of Modi has been an incredibly fulfilling and transformative experience. I would like to express my profound gratitude to the entire cast, crew, and producers for their unwavering commitment and creativity. To Al, who requested that I make this film—how could I refuse Pacino? A sincere acknowledgement for generously contributing his talent and dedication to this project. Modi is a testament to the collaborative spirit of independent filmmaking, and I am excited to present this unique and compelling story to the world.”
Johnny Depp
Johnny Depp attributes his return to the director’s chair for the upcoming biopic, “Modi,” to Al Pacino’s persuasion. This marks Depp’s first directorial project since 1997’s “The Brave,” where he also starred alongside Marlon Brando. Riccardo Scamarcio is set to portray Modigliani, supported by a cast featuring Antonia Desplat, Stephen Graham, and Sally Phillips. Producers include Depp’s European production company, IN.2, alongside Barry Navidi and Executive Producer Paul G Andrews.
